It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying the food, games, foam party, and time together as a school community. Events like these remind us how special our Simcoe Stars' family truly is. Thank you to our School Advisory Committee for funding and organizing our annual BBQ!

As we begin planning for next year, we encourage any families with children who will be old enough to attend Kindergarten in September to register as soon as possible, either online or through the school office. Founded in 1988 as National Access Awareness Week and inspired by Rick Hansen’s Man In Motion World Tour, it is a time to recognize the contributions of people with disabilities and advance accessibility and inclusion in our communities, workplaces, schools, and public places. This National AccessAbility Week, you can help remove the barriers that quietly exclude people every day. For people with disabilities, barriers decide what’s possible and what isn’t.

Information and Resources from the Rick Hansen Foundation can be found at the link below.

<a href="https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rickhansen.com%2FNAAW&data=05%7C02%7Cpropperc%40limestone.on.ca%7Cdabf2aaca7664dc4fd1d08debce8e047%7Ce1f4165febae4d82a73ca0de593830be%7C0%7C0%7C639155905619322158%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C4000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=epd5cOeYCNaJnCKVyY%2FV%2BtsHCD5cHKh%2Bj9GWbGl5f2k%3D&reserved=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" title="Original URL: https://www.rickhansen.com/NAAW. Our thoughts continue to be with Kamsi’s family and friends during this very difficult time. Her loss is felt deeply across the school community, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to all who knew and cared for her.

During times of loss, it is normal for students and adults alike to experience a wide range of feelings, including sadness, worry, or confusion. Some may need extra reassurance, a chance to talk, or simply time and space to process. School-based supports are available, and help is accessible through community resources. We encourage families to check in with their students, offer opportunities to talk if needed, and reach out for support whenever necessary.

Ways to support your student:

Maintain normal routines as much as possible.

Ask questions to determine their understanding of the event and emotional state.

Give them permission to grieve.
